Wind Mitigation Changes 2012

A few of the changes to the Uniform Mitigation Form deals with the roof coverings, roof geometry, and roof to wall attachments.

In respect to roof coverings the old form was related to the predominate roof covering. The new form covers all roof coverings and whether or not all or some are FBC approved. 

The roof geometry changes are that the selection will be either hip roof or non hip for a single family home. Flat roofs or combinations with flat roofs will no longer be penalized but will be calculated in determining if roof is a hip style roof. The flat roof selection will only be on multiple unit structures of 5 or more units.

The roof to wall connection changes the way the nailing and wraps classification is determined.
